In this position, you will help librarians organize library materials and information, direct patrons to books and databases, and perform clerical and administrative tasks (e.g., handling interlibrary loan requests, cataloguing books, shelving books, and using the library's database). Because of your background with reading materials and with using the library where you went to school, you are likely already familiar with some aspects of this job.
If you want to move up to a higher-paying job, being a Library Assistant is usually the first step in becoming a Librarian. However, if you want to be an actual Librarian, you will have to go back to school to earn a Library Science degree, typically at the Master's degree level.

Can I start a career Teaching Children with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology?With your undergraduate degree in Psychology, there are a number of career paths you can take to be a teacher of some type. First, you can teach grades K-12. However, you can only be a K-12 teacher if you take the necessary courses (including student teaching) required to be certified in the state where you will ultimately reside. For a typical Psychology major, this will likely make lengthen your undergraduate career. Second, there are other types of teaching that you might like to do, which may or may not require certification. This includes teaching classes at various location (e.g., at a community center, GED, life skills, parenting, etc. These teaching opportunities may be in the US or abroad (e.g., teaching English in a foreign country). Third, there are opportunities to teach through government agencies such as Americorps or the Peace Corps, but they pay less. Finally, you can also tutor individuals individually or as part of a learning center. This tutoring might be about Psychology, but i is more likely to be in a subject which you have a strong background (e.g., math, foreign language).

A School Psychologist is concerned with the science and practice of psychology with children and the schooling process. You could use your degree to get a job in higher education, likely teaching undergraduates and conducting research. You may decide that you want to use your degree to work in the schools. The latter will typically involve a large percentage of time assessing children for learning disabilities, behavioral intervention, and developing intervention plans with teachers and parents. As with all PhD degrees, this is a research degree, so be prepared to conduct research about various schooling issues including assessment, intervention, and program development.
In thinking about going for a PhD in School Psychology, make sure you check out if a program is accredited. In this way you can be assured that the program is recognized by a governing body as providing the highest level of advanced training. Also, you need to understand that being accepted into a PHD program will require a Master's degree from another school or as part of the PhD program. The total time to complete your PhD will be 4 to 6 years. This degree is practically oriented toward candidates pursuing leadership roles in education, government agencies, and nonprofits. That is, those with an EdD are responsible for the application of education research in the classroom and workplace. Those with an Ed.D. serve as principals in schools, administrative positions at colleges and universities, and as managers with companies and organizations. Like most dotoral degree, earning an EdD will probably take 5 years, with the focus of your curriculum primarily on classroom issue. A Psychology degree can lead to an Education Specialist (EdS) degree in School PsychologyWith a Psychology degree you may decide to become a School Psychologist with an Education Specialist (EdS) degree. As an EdS in School Psychology you will work with children and the schooling process. You will likely work in one or more schools, with a good amount of your time devoted to the assessment of children for learning disabilities, as well as developing behavioral intervention plans with teachers and parents.
When you pursue an EdS degree in School Psychology, it is best to go to a school that is approved by the National Association of School Psychologists to be assured that the program is recognized by a governing body as providing the highest level of advanced training. Completing an EdS program involves two years of coursework and a one-year internship (half of which must be in a school setting). If you go for an EdS degree, you should check to see if the school you would like to attend offers any financial assistance (e.g., tuition waiver).

As with all PhD degrees, this is a research degree, so be prepared to conduct research about education issues (e.g., learning, motivation, technology in the classroom,etc.). Typically, a student earning an Education PhD will focus their research toward a subarea like special education, teacher development, or literacy and reading. Ultimately you can use your PhD degree to obtain a job in higher education, consulting, administration at the K-12 level, and policy making. Remember, a PhD offers greater job opportunities and greater salary than a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
As a PhD degree program, you need to understand that it will require a Master's degree from another school or as part of the PhD program, and that the total time to complete your PhD will be 4 to 6 years. At many schools you do NOT pay tuition. In addition, at many schools you receive a stipend, a form of salary for serving as a Teaching Assistant (TA) or Research Assistant (RA). You will need to check with schools you are applying to in order to see what support you will receive

Your Master's degree should offer you greater job opportunities and greater salary than a Bachelor’s degree. Moreover, you can always decide to use your Master's degree as a springboard to a Doctoral degree.
